Family Development Initiatives (FDI), in partnership with UNICEF is implementing a project Breaking the Cycle: Strengthening Community and Adolescent Partnerships to End Child Marriage and Adolescent Pregnancies in Zambia. The project is being implemented in two districts of Eastern Province i.e. Chipata and Petuake with the objectives Project Objectives:
- Empowered girls and boys increasingly speak out against harmful practices, make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive rights, including decisions to delay marriage and pregnancy
- Community members take action to change social norms that are harmful to boys and girls and that lead to child marriage and teenage pregnancy
FDI will work closely with the ministry of community Development and social services, Ministry of education, Ministry of Health, UN agencies and CSO to contribute to the reduction of teenage pregnancies and unintended pregnancies in the target district.
