Community Immunization Project

Childhood Immunization remains one of the highest impact public health interventions in reducing morbidity and mortality resulting from infectious diseases. Despite the gains obtained from vaccines, Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) remain a major cause of child illnesses and deaths in various countries including Zambia due to a number of reasons which includes, defaulting from Immunization schedules. It is therefore in view of the above that Family Development Initiatives with support from CHAZ under the GAVI grant implementing the Zero Dose Children (ZDC) Immunization project in Choma and Monze Districts of Southern Province:

The project is for a period of four (4) years (2024 to 2027) Family Development Initiatives through the trained and engaged Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) identifies, tracks and facilitates immunization to defaulters and Zero Dose Children

The main objectives of the project;

  • To establish and/or strengthen partnerships with local/community actors and professional
    associations to reach and improve demand for immunization services.
  • To implement social and behavior change interventions
