Family Development Initiatives (FDI), in partnership with ActionAid Zambia, is implementing a project to improve adolescent RHR outcomes in ten districts across Eastern, Southern, and North-Western provinces. These districts—Chipata, Katete, Sinda, Petauke, Mambwe, Itezhi Tezhi, Choma, Mazabuka, Solwezi, and Kalumbila—were selected due to FDI’s strong community presence and existing structures, ensuring effective implementation.
The project takes a multi-faceted approach, targeting both in-school and out-of-school adolescents, including vulnerable groups like women in sex work. It focuses on comprehensive LSHE education, improved access to services, and community engagement to address stigma and misconceptions surrounding SRH.
Building on past successes, such as the SIDA-funded 03 project with UNESCO, the initiative continues advocating for critical policies like the school re-entry policy. The project aims to increase SRH knowledge, improve services, reduce stigma, and strengthen community support.
Through collaboration with Action Aid Zambia, government ministries, and local communities, FDI remains committed to ensuring all adolescents have the knowledge, skills, and access to services needed to reach their full potential.
